Rush was technically very good, and made some fantastic early albums, but I lost interest the album after Moving Pictures. And now as a Christian I take issue with lyrics and messages in most modern rock music. The fact that King Diamond (an overtly Satanist band) is posting tributes should give pause to parents. Neil Peart was a left-libertarian but the other two members were lefties.
He was a proponent of Ayn Rand's philosophies
And Wagner was a virulent anti-Semite. Does this mean we should not listen to his music? Same logic going on...
Musicians will generally always pay tribute to each other. It is not a reflection on Neil Pert that King Diamond is paying tribute to him. And its not like there are many kids or even young people listening to King Diamond anyway so Im not sure whose parents need to be concerned.
Dude. Give some respect.
He is a towering icon. This “oh he was alt -left” is such garbage.
Dreamline might be top 3 Rush songs. Beautiful poetic lyrics that guy wrote.
Atheists love to celebrate the second verse of Roll the Bones:
Faith is cold as ice
Why are little ones born only to suffer
For the want of immunity or a bowl of rice?
Who would hold the price
On the heads of the innocent children
If theres some immortal power to control the dice?
Neil forgot even third-worlders know how children are made. They make a choice to bring a child into a desperate situation. Its not Gods fault. It is, to quote another of his songs, free will. Its funny how the atheists think that verse is devastating to Christians when it actually exposes a paternalistic view of mostly minority people.
Still, Roll the Bones is a favorite album of mine.
I think most of those bands are kind of tongue in cheek Satanists. I mean if anyone was actually listening to King Diamond as some sort of satanic “how to method” they were probably huffing helium and glue anyhow.
