Funny, the details one notices after watching the movie for the umpteenth time - as fast as they were driving, they still manage to pass that green bug three times!

...not to mention the numerous skid marks around those specific corners.

“Sorry. I don’t get it. No Mustang is worth that as far as I’m concerned. Apparently someone disagreed.”

In 10 years it will be worth $10 million.

This car and the Jim Morrison GT-500 are the two most famous cars in the world.

Have you seen the Ford commercial recreation that stars Steve's granddaughter, Molly. And yes, the green bug is in it :)

Wonder if the original Gone in Sixty 60 seconds car is still around?

Good question.

I did hear that they destroyed over hundred cars making that movie. Perhaps that includes the original car.

“If a 110 year old baseball card of Honus Wagner is worth $8 million, a 50 year old Mustang can be worth $4 million. You are buying history.”

Bingo! You are absolutely right. And if someone can afford it, more power to them.

I have trouble deciding if the Bullitt chase or the Gone in 60 Seconds are the best. I lean towards the Gone in 60 Seconds since it lasts for most of the movie.

I still prefer the Ronin chase scene.

That’s the best car chase movie - once it gets to the car chase that is.

When the movie debuted, they put what appeared to be the car that was used in most of the movie on tour. My dad and I were at a mall in Houston TX about closing time one night when they brought the car in for display. This was a few days prior to release. Dad and I talked to the guy for a moment and went and saw the movie at first opportunity.

I had a cool poster that looked like a promo poster with the title and actors that was a picture shot from ground level of the car jumping about 15’ in the air towards the camera. I wish I still had it or could find another.

That chase is so bad. The fleeing car looses three hubcaps but still has two on it in later scene. The GTO/lemans pulls out into the race twice, and the green Volkswagen also pulls in front of the racers twice.

The Historic Vehicle Association featured this vehicle in 2018, including to display it on the National Mall:

Denice may still own it, not sure though. Here it is on display in 2014. In the course of trying to find that out I noticed that the movie had a 150,000 dollar budget and grossed 40 million. Not bad. There’s quite a story how Denice fell into all that money for only being married to HB for only 3 months. She also had the rights for Gone in 60 Seconds 2 after she won her lawsuit against Lee Iacocca. Needless to say, I never heard her say a bad word about her husband!

If you know the San Francisco Bay Area, you know that the action did many impossible leaps of many miles, all in a split second.
