When you’re in love with someone who sacrifices for the other person?

“When you’re in love with someone who sacrifices for the other person?”

Both of you. Being together, like every other thing people do, has costs. Like “opportunity costs” in economics. You spend more time with your spouse or significant other than you do with your friends. You may have to pick up your own socks. If one of you gets sick, the other takes care of them. That may be anything from getting them a cup of chicken soup once in a while to working (possibly at a job you hate) to keep insurance so they have medical care. You give up on hobbies, get up in the middle of the night with kids or pets or whatever so at least one of you gets some rest, do dishes, cook food, whatever it takes. If you’re smart, you won’t bitch about it to anyone, either. ;)

I’m not the brightest crayon in the box, but I’ve been married, this time, for 37+ years. I think I’ve learned at least a couple of things.

If they don’t do ANY of that for you, even once in a while, it may be time to look for the exit. OTH, neither of you will be perfect at it. If you can, cut them a little slack, and see how things go.
