And if you do the supplements, many docs will say they aren’t “medically necessary”. BTDT
Statins make my joints hurt like the dickens.
Same here. I was taking generic Crestor for about 5 years and was primarily experiencing pain in my knees and shoulders which got worse over time. I quit taking them and within 2 weeks all of that pain was gone (along with nightmares and a general weak feeling I had the entire time I was on that drug).
My GP understood when I told him I quit taking the statin and now I take something called Repatha which is a bi-weekly injectible that works as good as the statins but without all of the side effects.
You do know that you need to supplement with CoQ10 when taking a statin, right?
Statins make my joints hurt like the dickens.
Have you informed your doctor of this? All statins do not do this. It is a serious side effect that warrants a medication change, if possible.
I felt like I was an arthritic 85 year old(I’m 55)when I was on statins. I have hypothyroidism and a genetic tendency to very high cholesterol. But I was getting mentally dull, extremely fatigued and constantly in pain so I quit taking them. At this point, I’m staying out of the system as much as possible. I believe they put us on more and more meds as we age that hasten our demise and lower our quality of life.
My husband recently had a heart attack. His cholesterol has always been low but because he had a heart attack, they put him on lipitor. Neither one of us can understand why, but he’s going to keep on taking it as long as they tell him to because he’s a model prisoner when interacting with health professionals. I refuse to take that crap though!
