Question: why was that Ukrainian 737-800 with something like 63 Canadians accidentally shot down? Remember, there are persistent rumors (major tinfoil hat mode here!) that C_A and DS types are known to travel posing as Canadian citizens carrying Canadian passports so they are less suspicious to local national authorities (remember, Canadian citizens can legally vacation in Cuba). Still lots of speculation. There was some good tidbits at the end of the last Q thread on this including a possible Iranian nuclear scientist on the plane.
The timing of the plane taking off is suspect given almost the whole world thought a large US retaliation was coming. You would think planes would be grounded so they wouldn't be easy targets or get in the way as a precaution. Still more to be determined but a heck of a plot twist.

That's why I said my suggestion--based on what I've read from some people posted online--sounds quite tinfoil hat. And why was that jet allowed to take off shortly after those ballistic missiles were fired at the US military base?

You would think planes would be grounded so they wouldn't be easy targets or get in the way as a precaution. Aircraft on the ground would be the targets. I doubt the SRBMs originated in the vcty of Tehran, and given US mil proclivities, the counterstrike wouldn't be ballistic missiles. Also no SAM is fired by 'accident'. Like SK in the 80's, if higher HQ thought you should have engaged, and didn't, you would probably be X'ed out. So you shoot when in doubt.
