Does it have its own alphabet too. Be horrible living in that part of the world with so many languages etc.
When we had a common language it was of great benefit. Thats one reason libs are trying to get rid on one language. White privilege you know/s .

The Urdu alphabet has up to 40 letters. With 39 basic letters and no distinct letter cases, the Urdu alphabet is typically written in the calligraphic Nastaʿlīq script, whereas Arabic is more commonly in the Naskh style.
The Urdu alphabet is derived from the Persian (Farsi) and the Arabic alphabet, where majority of the letters are borrowed from Arabic while only four alphabets.
But the language spoken by many South Asians, whether is be called Hindi or Urdu, is the same Hindustani. And when it was made official, it was called Urdu. Hindi 's words though they may have Sanskrit, doesn't make Hindi older, because Hindi popped up in the 19th century, while Urdu was being used centuries before.
