Dog food was the issue previous
Last week two of our dogs became real sick. I found Danial in his bed stiff as a board. I shook him and stuck my finger in his throat thinking he choked on something. He came around but was deathly ill. He was close to death for a couple days. Our min pin started frothing at the mouth and shivering all over. Thought he was going to die too. I fed both dogs Activated Charcoal thinking of some poison. It was Friday and no vets open around here. By Monday they were snapping out of it but still fragile.
Searched my brain trying to figure out what would cause the poisoning. Danial, a chihuahua, never goes outside as trained to a litter box.
The only thing that was the same were some treats we had bought. I emailed the company and they were honest enough to say the chicken was from china. Searching on the net articles said to avoid any treats made with chinese products.
Strongly advise everyone to check country of origin on all dog treats. I won’t say where I bought these or the company name of the treats since I cannot prove what I surmised.
ASF (Asian Swine Flu) actually. An article indicated that ASF has hit feral hogs in Belgium etc. Good for that, but now worried about likely spreading to market herds. They say ASF does not jump from animal to humans. Anyone wanna be the first victim!? Meanwhile, China is butchering the crap outta these infected herds and feeding it to someone!
Take care of yourself, man! A lot of wet weather heading our way this weekend.
From Wikipedia:
Coronaviruses also cause a range of diseases in farm animals and domesticated pets, some of which can be serious and are a threat to the farming industry. In chickens, the infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a coronavirus, targets not only the respiratory tract but also the uro-genital tract. The virus can spread to different organs throughout the chicken.[7] Economically significant coronaviruses of farm animals include porcine coronavirus (transmissible gastroenteritis coronavirus, TGE) and bovine coronavirus, which both result in diarrhea in young animals. Feline Coronavirus: two forms, Feline enteric coronavirus is a pathogen of minor clinical significance, but spontaneous mutation of this virus can result in feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a disease associated with high mortality. Similarly, there are two types of coronavirus that infect ferrets: Ferret enteric coronavirus causes a gastrointestinal syndrome known as epizootic catarrhal enteritis (ECE), and a more lethal systemic version of the virus (like FIP in cats) known in ferrets as ferret systemic coronavirus (FSC).[8] There are two types of canine coronavirus (CCoV), one that causes mild gastrointestinal disease and one that has been found to cause respiratory disease. Mouse hepatitis virus (MHV) is a coronavirus that causes an epidemic murine illness with high mortality, especially among colonies of laboratory mice.[9]
This is an excellent source of vitamin C - spendy but excellent. Most tablet/caplet vitamin C on the market is from China so a total waste of money, imo. https://www.livonlabs.com/products/vitamin-c/
This product might help next flu/cold season, as a preventive:

I know. A little rain tonight and tomorrow, 100% chance of severe storms Saturday, then mainly wet through the first half of the week. The temps will be moderate, but it makes for great flu weather. Typical mid-winter weather in Alabama. I can see us both with blankets and cats in our laps for the next several evenings.
I have a hole in my roof. Got a roofer back at Thanksgiving to fix it and re-shingle the whole roof. They put a tarp on the roof so no leaking.
Insurance screwed up and just now paid the claim, but now we gotta wait to have a few days of good weather to do the work.
"A new, potent form of viral pneumonia sickened 59 people in China with high fevers,
lung lesions, and difficulty breathing.
All have been quarantined, and seven are in critical condition.
WHO calls the outbreak pneumonia of unknown etiology(Emphais mine)
which is epidemiologist speak for we dont know what the hell this is."
China is not known for open communication about epidemics.
SARS was not reported to WHO for months and killed approximately 800 people in 2002 and 2003
while spreading to dozens of countries.
This week, China seems to be more readily releasing information, though China continues to be China:
The hashtag #WuhanSARS has been blocked by censors."
p
I’ve had some kind of flu or walking pneumonia or something for three weeks. The whole fam damily got it for Christmas but it hit me hardest.
All of us got the flu shot. I’m guessing we caught whatever is spreading like wildfire-that wasn’t included in the flu shot.
I had to bust out the severe COPD meds and the nebulizer and been doing saline sinus wash and adding colloidal silver to that and the nebulizer so was able to stay out of the doctor’s office.
No fever for me either but constant coughing that won’t bring all the gunk up and sore throat and sinus issues. The sinus issues are for the most part done but whatever is in my lungs just won’t let go.
I’m thinking in another week I’ll be good. This stuff always hits me hardest because I have scarring in my lungs from chickenpox I went through as an adult-that was whole nother ordeal and a half!
:)
The Solanum outbreak started in China.
(From Max Brooks’s World War Z -NOT the movie)
I also have thyroid disease so I have a low body temperature that’s not so good for killing viruses.
Veggie Todd ~ Not all. Aids started in Africa IIRC.
As did Ebola.
Should have said epidemics..
You think?
Me, Jan 8, 2020: Chinese New Year is coming up and people travel, and families congregate, just like our Thanksgiving. It’s a great way to spread disease, unfortunately.
You, in Dec 2020: You think?
Can you remember back to Jan, 2020? Why the sarcasm?
Linked article has disappeared. It shows up on my monitor for about two seconds then poof...gone. Blank page.
