Which is a date contained in the 20th year of this century. Not a date in the 19th year of the century. Therefore, within the 20’s, a decade in the century.


It is a date contained in the 20th year correct. But it is a date contained in the 10th year of this decade. 2010 was the 10th year of the Century not 2009.

That’s true, but this discussion is being dragged on needlessly due to people using different terms.

The basic thing we need to establish is that for the purpose of the original comment, years like 2000 are not considered to be part of the 1990s but are instead part of the 2000s because, well, they start with 2000. Same that 2020 isn’t part of the 2010s, even if it’s the last year of the two thousand and tenth decade.
