It appears Jack was the second man to draw on the perp. The first guy was pulling out his gun and the perp saw that and shot him, killing him.
First guy was drawing, but it looked slower due to concealment. The deacons and security were watching the perp and I think that might be why the deacon sat down behind where he was sitting. I think he is a hero because he drew the perp’s attention to him and away from the congregation.
Brothers and sisters take on the full armor of God.
I read that earlier, too, and then another resume didn't include the FBI.
