I don’t have any paid subscription services.

A driver’s license can get you a digital library card (and no credit card info) which can get you multiple movies a month via Hoopla Digital and Kanopy. The number of movies you get is determined by the library in your city or county. The movies you check out can be viewed an unlimited number of times for like 3 days. These programs both reload on the first of each month so if you get 4 movies from Kanopy and check them out Dec 30 you will still be able to check out another 4 movies on Jan 1st.

Tubi.tv is free and has commercials now and then (for 15-30 seconds). You don’t even have to log in to watch tubti.tv

I started to check out some other systems but I haven’t found others I like as much yet. Some do offer current tv programs.

Vudu is from one of the big studios. You have to register and log in to watch it. I don’t think I have enough data bandwidth to watch it stream well. You can watch some programming free with ads or pay per view other things. I think it complained about the tv I had connected to my computer as well. Was not happy with this service. Also seeing their ads as I travel to other websites now so they use cookies. Very invasive and snoopy for a damn movie channel. Didn’t like my monitor device? Really? Downgraded my video stream from HD because it wasn’t authorized equipment.

Also imdb.tv is free

https://www.imdb.com/tv/

And PBS has programming on their website (the Ken Burns’ country music program was up for 30 days with each episode available for free following the tv debut).
