Not with that chicken wing arm sticking out. Maybe back then they didn’t teach you not to do that.
That is exactly how we were taught to shoot a rifle before pistol grips came along.
Not tacticool but very stable and effective if you have to do off hand.
The no chicken wing shooting style taught these days by tactical gurus is sound from a profile minimization aspect and fits in well with a light weight, compact rifle assault rifle shooting low impulse round like 5.56 or 5.45 with modern optics and using modern military shooting style.
On the other hand, the good old chicken wing is not so stupid if you need to shoot a bunch of 7.62 NATO after humping a heavy, full size MBR like a FN FAL or M14 for better part of a day in bad conditions
Times change and styles change.
What really matters is hitting what you aim at.
But then again, Ive only recently moved away from iron sights so Im kind of old school, or maybe just plain old
