Really a steering wheel in a self-driving car should be considered a necessary safety feature.

Futuristic product developers at the "General Motors Company" must be in deep with the "Save the Planet" crowd. Consumers must reject the autonomous vehicle movement now. The real problem on the roads out there is the attitude of the driver. This problem should be addressed so that no responsible drivers are affected in any way except in knowing that fewer irresponsible drivers will be among them in traffic.
Don't let these narcissistic Obama-loving lunatics in car company board rooms and design studios tell you that the safest, greenest (therefore "sexiest"), cars and roads in America will be the reality and that they and the federal government are going to make it happen. Nothing should be further from the truth.
Fundamentally changing the way we get from point A to point B should never involve taking away from responsible drivers the privilege of having a license to drive traditional non-autonomous cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, airplanes, ATV's, ORV's, etc.!
It's not too late for consumers to keep the "genie" of autonomous vehicle technology in it's little green bottle, and it's never too late for society to solve problems brought about by the few without having to inconvenience and perhaps curtail the freedoms of the many...or is it?
I resent the government and PC-bound corporations for their attempts at forcing intrusive technologies on us in the name of some perceived universal crisis of humanity and public safety.
This business of saving us from ourselves is out of control, and again it is because of irresponsible leadership and the notion that only the most responsible Americans, would be willing to "give it up" for the sake of the planet.
Note to the General Motors Company: Baby, you won't drive my car.

Can you program the car to avoid St. Louis?
To: conservative98
Can you program the car to not stop for obvious ambushes by ghetto hoods or Russian mafia, and to take evasive countermeasures?

How would you be able to pull one
into a service bay? Voice
commands? Or would they be able
to respond to hand signals?
Such as, a little to your right,
a little to your left, whoa!,
back up a little....etc.

THAT MOMENT when the car intelligently steers into oncoming traffic, and the only control you have access to is the windshield squirter.
