The Constitution says the impeachment process involves both chambers. No, the Constitution says the Impeachment process is the exclusive purview of the House of Representatives.
Once impeached, the Senate holds a trial to convict or acquit.

To be impeached is to be charged with an offense.
If the charges are not pressed, they are not legal charges.
