He can argue fundamental due process rights to the senate. They will consider his argument and then decide if he gets his witnesses or not. That's the way tribunbals work. All you get is your argument. Maybe you get your witness, maybe not. Clinton didn't get all the witnessess he wanted.

There is no question the senate will allow Trump to at least answer, and that is a defense even if sans witnesses.

It's up to the senate to figure out how much process has to occur in order to preserve the senate's credibility, and public (and history) acceptance of the outcome.

As for turncoats, takes 2/3rd to convict. Trump is safe. Plus, the articles really are a joke. The public might be that stupid, I don't know.
