Well, disregarding this Russian propaganda piece, the core point is correct... the bilateral natural gas pipeline between Russia and Germany is the business of Germany and Russia. It’s no more our business to try to exert veto power over THEIR pipelines than it is the business of countries other than Canada and the US to try to veto OUR North American pipelines.
And no overtones of Molotov-Ribbentrop at all, of course.
