He was born in Canada and never actually received US citizenship, rightfully, ever. As a new Senator he was given a ceremonial US passport for official travel. Too embarrassing to instead say that America fell for a non-citizen in higher public office, and, of course, the mocha skin. And then someone died trying to fudge the proof in the passport office (messing with Hillary’s and McCain’s info also as a decoy).
One day everyone will know. Political correctness is actually not a great priority.
