She did seem to be standing in the field of play, so a good defense would be that he was trying to nudge her to move out of his way.

The guy had to come clear over from the other side of the road, maneuvering himself as he made the beeline for her butt in order to position himself to get himself some hands-on-ass action.
There’s just no excuse for his bad choices.
Some evidence of sexual intent would be relevant for proving sexual battery. Without it, he’s a dopey guy clowning for the TV cameras for 5 seconds. Unless the victim was bruised from the minor contact through a coat and pants, and has pics to prove it, the battery part is shaky too.
Not doubting you, but I saw him seeing the camera and making a bee-line for it. If he really is a family man, boy scout trooper, and church youth group volunteer, I doubt he was overcome by a desire for “some hands-on-ass action”. Very foolish though.
It calls for an apology, which he has made, nothing more. To say that this should result in jail time or fines is quite frankly stupid. If this is someone’s wife or father and they want to punch the guy then I’d be okay with that, but for the criminal justice system to get involved with something so trivial is asinine.

I’d agree with that - if she had a camera attached to her backside. Though, if he were really just playing to the camera, that would make his already bad choices even worse. Smile to the audience as ya grabass? Ewww.

You’d be surprised, I think, to find out how many people, more “moral and upright” appearing than this guy who have done much worse things. The “extreme good guy” cover is relatively common - not all bad guys wear black hats and anyone can buy a white hat.
And whether he has done anything else of this sort wrong, he’s caused problems for the social/religious groups he may have been part of - they now have to make sure his time with them was kosher. Especially when it comes to minors.
If nothing else, he’s just not very bright at all. Watching and listening to him, it even seems to me as if he could be borderline mentally retarded. Kind of a vacant look and he doesn’t seem to able to string together very many sentences that make sense. His lawyer would be well advised to not have him try to talk his way out of this.
His lawyer needs to tell him to stop talking, period.

Since he can get up to a year behind bars for it, the fella might be on the receiving end (so to speak) of a buttslap or two if he winds up serving time. I suspect he can’t be looking forward all that much to hitting the group shower.

I think you will have a hard time proving that this doofus did it “ for sexual arousal, gratification or abuse”. At least in a sane world, but as we all know we live in insane times.
