"Magnetic north, the point on the planet’s surface toward which your conventional compass points, is created by the churning of molten metal in Earth’s core, which creates huge electrical currents to produce the magnetic field."
And as I've been saying for about a decade or more, consider that with seismic activity and volcanism in mind. As the magnetic pole deviates, such actions increase in frequency and intensity. The increases in rays getting through from above affect people, too, by the way.

For a another fun surprise, find a model showing the distance of travel of magnetic north since the mid-1990s. See how far it has traveled since then.
Oh, yeah, thousands of years. Riiiight. ;D

Hi.
You know better than me. What happens when magnetic north flip flops again? Have to renumber all of the runways?
Okay, I’m thinking the next disaster is Lang o leers...

In 2011, the US National Academy of Sciences calculated that a repeat of a solar storm like the one which hit the planet in 1859 could cause as much as $2 trillion in initial damage, and take a decade to repair. If we harden stuff against an EMP attack it works well with this stuff too...

If God, in his infinite wisdom, can save the migrating birds that depend on magnetic navigation to continue their species, I have no doubt that the flipping of the poles would pose no really big problems except redefining the directions. Money would have to be spent in re-programming people, books and machines but it could be done quickly.
What would be a big problem is if it was on the cusp of flipping for a long time and intermittently flipped like every day or two for years........................................
