what is the ramification if 55 Ds jump ship?

Impeachment fails.

Nancy needs 218 votes to win a majority of 435 House members. With 234 Dems (233 + Amash), Nancy can only afford to lose 16.

(There are 197 Republicans and 4 vacancies.)
