Contract Amount: $1,160,361.42Project included marine floating plant (barge, crane, tugboat) to assist in
geotechnical surveying and soil boring, demolition of five existing dolphin pile
clusters, installation of five new 13-pile cluster mooring dolphins with HDPE
pile wraps, steel wire rope cluster wraps, steel bolts to fasten piles to cluster,
removal and replacement of 8 stainless steel cleats, replacement of
pier cross members, and replacement of timber pile for existing pier.
Returned several months later to resolve a critical issue with the new pier construction. The job involved core drilling six 18-inch-diameter, 7.3-foot-deep holes in concrete pipe piles using diamond tools.
TXnMA Analysis: Mass incarceration of prisoners at Guantanámo Bay may well be delayed into 2020 for logistical reasons (above). My personal guess is that political considerations may defer such drastic actions until after the 2020 election...
