The third verse of The Battle Hymn of the Republic is almost never performed, and in my church's hymnal, it is excluded, as it likely is in most others. However, Lee Greenwood includes it in a recent recording.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel,
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal."
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on.

I recall reading that in the hymnal when I was a kid. Even then I thought it was kind of grim.
