Rapinoe challenged perceptions of her, of female athletes, of all women.
The question is, did she really change perceptions of women athletes for the better? Did she really make a positive social/political statement, by emphasizing lesbianism in women’s sports???? Ditto by making a strong political statement against the president?????
Well, she did more than most to burst the bubble of “72%”, by making everybody focus on how if you play half the games, and draw 1/10th the crowds, and bring in 1/20th of the money, as the males doing the same job, you are not actually “doing the same job”.
