When checking out of a five-star hotel, thrifty travelers have been known to slip a few shower caps, mini-shampoos or even slippers into their suitcases.
But more brazen guests are managing to steal bulkier items -- including mattresses, coffee machines and even a stuffed animal, hotel and spa reviewer Wellness Heaven found in a survey of 1,157 four- and five-star hoteliers. An astonishing 49 hotels reported that mattresses had been stolen from their premises since January 2018, CEO of Wellness Heaven Tassilo Keilmann told CNN, adding that it was likely hotels could have suffered multiple thefts. Hoteliers told Keilmann that mattresses are often stolen at night.

Hotel mattresses are a revolting collection of various contributors’ DNA and other (hopefully) dried body fluids that I wouldn’t want to handle without a hazmat suit. Stealing one would lead me to question the sanity of the thief.
hotel soaps straight from the suitcase are always a winner. Nothing like a kid having their own personal little soap apart from the bathtub community soap. Same with the little shampoos.
But those days are over. Now the hotels are putting in bulk dispensers. Push a button, get a plop of shampoo. And kids everywhere are deprived of their little personal soaps because of some Green policy. And because of this Green policy, traveling parents have to spend extra time racking up larger carbon footprints to find substitute soaps for the kids so their kids don’t cry and feel neglected and forgotten and unloved. Meanies.
I have never found hotel sheets, etc. to be ‘smooth’ enough for me. Even the high end stuff doesn’t beat my bamboo sheets. Had a friend stay here for a week recently. After the first night she came out of the bedroom and said...I don’t even want to know how much you paid for those sheets...they’re fabulous. I just laughed and pulled them up online so she could order some for herself. I recently stayed at 4 different hotels, all very nice, and complained about all their sheets being too ‘rough’ for me. lol
I do not believe I have ever slept on Bamboo sheets.
I stayed at a BnB in VT in Ludlow near Okemo Ski area. They had these down comforters that were so nice I considered buying one. When they gave me the $350 price I said I would let them know.
I always thought that the hotels bought 600+ thread count 100% cotton sheets. The reason they may feel rough is that they bleach them in very hot water to clean them properly.
That is why all hotel sheets are white.
The Starwood hotel chain. Now owned by Marriot had their Heavenly Bed. In all their hotel rooms they had a price list for the sheets, pillows, comforters, even the mattress. The mattress was made by one of the major brands.
I ended up buying the highest version of that mattress at my local retailer. It lasted like any other mattress for about 9-10 years. I am now due for a new one.

They’re super cheap and absolutely great. My friend thought they were super expensive sheets.

Unfortunately, I have a California King mattress.
These are all Bamboo/microfiber blends. Are 100% bamboo even better?
I’ve never found a 100% bamboo. But these are the best sheets I’ve ever slept on. Far better than the really expensive ones I used to buy. I even have them on the beds on my boat.
Speaking of sheets. I have wondered how much The Pillow Guy sells his Giza cotton sheets for.
He is always saying they are buy one get one free but he never mentions a price.
He personally like the guy based on his religious beliefs and story of being a former crack addict.
