In a finding sure to inflame the gender wars, research funded by the U.K. government suggests women around the world, and especially in Canada, are significantly more ignorant of current affairs and politics than men.
This gender gap is constant across countries as diverse as the U.S., Greece, Japan and Australia. It is as clear in Colombia, where most people scored very low on tests about current news events, as it is in Norway, where knowledge is generally high. It is as evident in the U.K. and U.S., where gender equality is well established in the culture, as it is in Japan and South Korea, where it is not.
That is, at least, according to the British report, which found consumption of news is “very much a masculine action, particularly in Canada, Norway, U.K. and U.S.”
The mystery of what causes this alleged knowledge gap is the “extraordinary question at the heart of this study,” said the lead author, James Curran, professor of communications at Goldsmiths, University of London, and director of the Goldsmiths Leverhulme Media Research Centre.
“I think it’s because public affairs is indeed dominated by men. It may be that there is also patriarchal bias, but it isn’t possible to determine whether reality is being distorted or whether it is merely being reflected,” he said in an interview.

While the researchers try hard to blame patriarchy, in my life experience, I found that most younger women simply weren’t interested in politics and current events as a whole. Particular issues might catch their interest from time to time, but generally they were into entertainment culture, like (when I was in my 20s), what was going on on “90210.” And shopping. Getting tattoos. Visiting psychics. And of course, finding a man and starting a family.
It isn’t until women are much older, into their 40s, I’d say, that many take a general interest in politics and current events.
And so many seem to form their beliefs on superficial impressions, which they will then zealously research and defend, to the point of wanting to censor those whom they disagree with.
I see that sort of zeal in this article about Harvard students voting to censure the school paper for following standard journalism when contacting ICE for a statement in a story:

Because I have my own d*ck and dont need a spare one. and My wife is an awesome woman who can outdo me a lot of things except when it comes to who has the D”ck. BTW, she is free to ask me to leave at any time, She can have it all and I wouldn’t fight her for anything, but being a real woman she knows what shes got can’t be easily replaced. I also repect her Her and her opinion. Shes smart enought to know more than half of her gender are real head cases. Can you admit whats good for society may not be good for you?
And though it focuses on many different nations, here, in the USA, you can put the blame of people, both men and women, not knowing about current events/politics, first on ALL schools, followed the MSM.
Once upon a time, all schools, from the lowest grades through college, made students read and know current events and at the least, what was going on in politics. That hasn't been the case in over 50 years now.
The MSM spews lies, propaganda, and often ignores vast swaths of factual news of any kind. A lot of it is also pretty boring, when it isn't ramble rousing!
And then there is the question of just WHO they interviewed and where! Which makes this "study" absolutely useless!
So WHY did you bother to post this drivel?

My own wonderful cousin is now politically corrupted.
In the 90s there were a lot of studies on this, and you’d see consistent results showing a wide divergence.
You’d consistently see answers to basic civics questions where 75% of Republican men, 55% of Democrat men, 48% of Republican women, and 16% of Democrat women got it right.
One specific question I recall was “On the issue of abortion, which party is the ‘Pro-life’ party. 10% of Democrat women got it wrong. No one else did.
It’s not a mystery.
Only to libtard socialists.
It ain’t any better now than in 2013. If anything six more years of the Kardashians and more ‘smart’phones and America’s Got Herpes shows and it’s even worse now.

Women are great at what they do in their realm. Because they are in their realm, national and world politics are usually not in their realm. Which means they are not the most informed voters.
