That mountain with the Hollywood sign is one of the most famous mountains in the world. Can you name it? It is named Mount Lee. If the people on the Los Angeles City Council knew that the mountain has the same name as Robert E. Lee they would re-name it Mount 0bama.

Let’s keep this a secret.

Interesting the Wikipedia for Mount Lee doesn’t mention that.

Even pre-politically correct times, I don’t know that a confederate would be the best choice of name for a place in California — I quite appreciate the missionaries from Spain who laid the foundations for the city in 1871 naming it:

“El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles” - the town of our Lady, Queen of the Angels.”

And saints like San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, etc...

So sad that the heart behind the founding of these cities are just footnotes of history now or under assault by revisionists. :(

The name Fremont is quite common out west as well. Let’s keep it as another secret that he was the first leader and Presidential candidate for the GOP.

More fitting would be renaming the La Brea Tar Pits after Obama.

"The mountain is named after early Los Angeles car dealer and radio station owner Don Lee. Lee, a one-time bicycle shop owner who became a protégé of Los Angeles pioneer businessman Earle C. Anthony, purchased his Los Angeles radio station KHJ from Chandler in 1927.”
