means of a “National Security Letter” that FBI Director
Chris Wray would have had to approve.
This should become very interesting soon. A national
security letter (NSL) is an administrative subpoena issued
by the United States government to gather information for
national security purposes. NSLs do not require prior
approval from a judge.

Wray always reeked of odd, as a shifty sort. If SDNY can circumvent a WOODS type Process and simply get some putz running the FBI to scribble out an NSL, we’re Fried for standards of Justice, and bring on Framing political targets.
