Recall that the Normans from french Normandy invaded England and defeated the Anglo saxons. Ever since 1066 the throne of England has had french ancestors sitting until the Germans took over the throne before Victorias father was in the throne.
Richard the Lionhart was more French than English. His mother was Eleanor of Aquitaine. Richard spent his entire reign out of the country on crusades. He barely spoke English.
