EMTs don’t make much.
Average is about $36K.
i am truly shocked... that is sad
I mis-wrote. I meant triple the WAREHOUSE INDUSTRY average injury rate.
Conservatism isn’t losing because of a bad message, it’s the messengers that absolutely miss the point.
The conservative message: Leave Us Alone should resound.
We should also blast the Leftist answer NO! from the ramparts. People would understand, If they actually knew their choices.
THATS A WOMAN? Bleach!
Amazon has a high turnover rate in their logistics business.
They measure every employee’s production every shift and apply pressure to those who are not on target.
The problem is that most people cannot handle the pace, pressure and physical demands of the jobs that Amazon has in that element of their conglomerate.
But they know if they take it and bomb out physically and/or mentally...Uncle Sam is there with a check. So people who know they cannot perform take the job. Hoping they won’t be there long.
Amazon cannot decline to hire a fat drunk smoker that’s in their 40s or 50s for obvious legal reasons.
But they should be able to.
Hell, the Whole Foods folks are bitching too. They are expected to re-stock shelves at a measured rate, maintain precise inventory so that just in time supply is efficient, and there are fewer people in the front of the store for checkout and customer service.
They are all busy actually working instead of discussing the latest health food fad or generally making nice with the customers.
Amazon runs the best, most cost-efficient logistics business the world has ever seen, or even dreamed of. Those who want to succeed in it must be young, smart and fit. And they must not have a US Mail Service attitude toward work.
Thus millions of people hate them.
Yeah, just keep injuring people, there are lots out there to disable.
“Yeah, just keep injuring people, there are lots out there to disable. “
That’s absurd. Hell, anyone who thinks it is against the very enterprise that built this country and affords you the right to be a complainer.
The alternative is to use the US Government to compel Amazon to structure their jobs so they can be performed by 46 yr old drunken, fat smokers.
I bet you would like it to do so.
I know four 20 - 30 year olds who work at Amazon, they like it fine. Two of those folks worked at warehouses prior.
It is what it is, and I’m guessing like any other job, things are not necessarily for everybody.
We’ll just have to agree to disagree. I think an hugely disproportionate level of employee injury compared to similar firms performing similar tasks bears some investigation by the labor board and other interested parties.
There may be a close correlation between the age and fitness levels of the employees concerned, but there also could be a serious issue within the basic expectation of the employer.
I know that I personally have had employers make impossible demands in productivity levels. Is Amazon immune from having an algorithm error?
She gets your support why? Many of us work for a living, and I personally have seen more than my share of lazy day players hopping from job to job, and never happy no matter what work they are required to do. The work is always too hard for some, especially the drug addicts and alkies.
Just because people are complaining that Amazon is a ‘sweatshop’ doesn’t mean chit to me, because what’s their point of reference? Most millenials think more than sitting at a computer desk is slave labor, and the alcoholics like the woman above probably start getting the shakes when she can’t take a cigarette break every 30 minutes.
My cousin’s hubby works for Google in Oklahoma and has for years. He retired a deputy sheriff and then went to work as security for them. I was there spending a week with them when I said....Danny doesn’t shower or eat here....why? She said...He uses the showers at Google before he comes home and they usually feed them too. He likes working for them.
Going through old stuff... mogg and Davidson had some chapters in the great reckoning covering this. It gets deeper with the bio/nano possibilities.
Interesting
I lived out of a DEC facility for three years. Shared an apartment... never saw the bathroom. Never used the stove. Only slept there.
When they shut us down... I had more stuff at work than I had at home. Took me a week to clean out. Moved to another site. Same thing, a few years later. MLO1
Good times
