[one, says she’s an EMT, WHY IN THE HELL is she working as a stocker if she’s an EMT? i don’t believe that one ]

I think she’s not exactly in tip top shape, so if the heavy lifting required of EMT’s would have done a number on her. This is a description of the effect of her work at Amazon.

[My knees were killing me. My back and shoulders constantly hurt. My left hip throbbed. After every shift, I’d ice my swollen ankles, which were triple the normal size.]

If she’s managing a bar during the day and working at Amazon at night, it’s hard to see how her body is getting the time to recuperate. There’s an excerpt about how, when she signed on at Amazon, her dad was glad she finally had a job. My guess is that she was essentially working at a relative’s bar - maybe her dad’s.

C’mon Trump. Let OSHA shut this down. Then attack the Washington Post. Maybe their newspaper ink contains carcinogens. Put the screws to Bezos.

[I find the sudden leftist hate of Amazon to be interesting.
Will Jeff Bezo walk-away and smell the coffee or will he double down on the leftism?]

Bezos isn’t a leftist - he’s a libertine who wants lower taxes. The GOP’s ascendance and hard line stance on taxes has rendered the whole tax issue moot for wealthy libertines. Once the Democrats win power for some time period and start jacking up taxes, people like Bezos will return to the GOP.

People seem to think that voters are divided into Democrats and Republicans, and depending on party, each voter buys the every plank in the party platform. In reality, both parties are coalitions of interests.

White Democrats aren’t thrilled about black racial preferences, but many of these people are welfare and Social Security recipients, public employees or union members. They go along with the Democratic stance on racial quotas because the GOP is against welfare, public and private unions, and wants to cut Social Security benefits.

Paul Ryan is a political retard because he kept going on about slashing Social Security benefits under the rubric of reform. People don’t care what you say when they can see their benefits checks shrinking. And Social Security recipients are a big chunk of the GOP base. I would have cut welfare to the bone, but that wasn’t the Ryan way - his preference was to stick it to GOP voters.

Did you not say on another thread you live and work in China, a country were these slave conditions are normal?

I have known some folks who work in these distribution places and it is truly miserable working conditions. Continual production quoatas that are near impossible to meet.

I worked at computer and technology recycler/reseller during the time of the wun.

It was lot like Amazon except for abysmal pay, sweatshop conditions, long hours, criminally incompetent management, no prayer of advancement and regular power outages.

Regarding power outages it was mostly self inflicted. One of the main jobs was wiping and selling servers. Naturally as many as possible as fast as possible.

After a while it was determined that x amount of servers could run at a time without tripping the power and having to start again.

The great minds insisted that we were stupid and incompetent. After all the St. Louis fools didn’t like us either.

We’d start to wipe more than the limit, the power went out. Numbers fell behind.

Come to find out the new building they built had at most 20 amp breakers. The electrical system was designed by the resident headquarters electrical engineer.

I drive by the place every so often in the northeast. For the most part it was and probably still is a revolving door. The last time or two I saw a familiar truck. It belonged to a transplant that was there before me.

The Jeff Bezos I knew was something of a Left-libertarian.. one of the reasons his business practices are a bit hard core.

Sounds like utopia. You kind of write like Jack Kerouac. Engaging.

Dilbert’s company would have been utopia compared to that corporate gulag.

I appreciate the kind words and admit I had to look up Jack Kerouac. My wife is the book person between us and would most likely know him.

You’re DEAD-ON about that Dickhead. I remember early in Trump’s term Ryan saying something like: “Now that we have Congress and the White House, it’s time to get to work ‘fixing’ Social Security”.

Trump had promised not to touch it, and he told Ryan to SHOVE IT regarding that idea - and we never heard anything more, thankfully.

...but if the Republicans do want to help shore up Social Security and stick it to the Democrats at the same time, they could outright-eliminate the earnings cap, so you pay the 6.2% (or 12.4% if self employed) on EVERY DOLLAR, not just up to $128k or so. The Democrats HATE THE IDEA, since most of their remaining white base is upper middle class...which is why you don’t see any of them proposing it (their proposals don’t re-instate the tax until $250k or so, so if you make, say $192k, everything over $128k stays untaxed).

In any case, I don’t expect anything done - but nor does that bother me, since literally NO ONE wants to cut benefits or raise taxes, so when D-Day comes, just take money from the General Fund to maintain the benefit level.

“why is it that conservatism gets a bad name?”

Weakness. Self serving lies. No fidelity to American values. Turncoat leaders.

Weakness, weakness, weakness.
