FRs mission is to reduce govt largess, not advocate for a single corporation. The Apple-fest threads will always be antithetical on FR.
“The Apple-fest threads will always be antithetical on FR.”
Yep. Detraction.
The purpose of the Apple pinglist is to alert those folks who are interested in Apple products to articles that might be of interest to them. There are Microsoft and a Linux pinglist as well (I'm on all three). We live in a tech-saturated world. I find it useful to know what is going on in that tech world.
For myself, I have an iPhone, largely because I believe them to be generally more secure than Androids. In my experience, an iPhone tends to get patched for longer than your typical Android phone. I find that to be a positive as a value proposition.
On the other hand, I have a tablet as well, but it's an Android device. I use it mostly as an ebook reader, and as such don't particularly care once it becomes too old to get updates, as I almost never have wifi turned on, and don't use bluetooth functionality at all. I like the fact that it lets me load up books and music on an SD card. The value of that overrides it's relative lack of long-term security updates.
Use what works best for you and provides the best value according to your needs. I'm just glad for the competition between the major players, because as a consumer, it's in my best interests for it to exist. I don't really even complain about MS-Windows users anymore, even though I'm negatively affected by the general virus magnet that windows has long been.
