Around here and in many other states one can only discharge their firearm at an wild animal(outside of legal hunting) if human life is threatened. Guy should of said he was in fear of his friend Greg’s life.

Guy should of said he was in fear of his friend Gregs life.If I'm the judge, a bear inside a human habitation is reasonable grounds to be believe that you are threatened and can act in self-defense. Even if the bear isn't predatory, it is likely to feel cornered if a human appears and defend itself aggressively.
