Who is Deep State Tim Olsen?

“There are flexibilities within the Appropriation Act that would permit, for example, based on language requirements, some exemptions,” says Tim Olson, associate director for field operations at the Census Bureau. “We are actively working through those flexibilities to see if they can be used in 2020. We are not there yet.”

Olson began is career at the Census Bureau in 1987 as a temporary employee in the Seattle region during the 1990 and 2000 Censuses. He joined the Census Bureaus headquarters team in 2001 supporting Field Divisions Special Census program. In 2013, he became the agencys first Respondent Advocate, and in 2015 became the Chief of Field Division.
Olson is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Commerce Departments Gold and Silver Awards, two Census Bureau Bronze Medal Awards, and the Directors Award for Innovation.
Olson lives in Washington D.C. and explores the world through photography and non-U.S. travel, having spent time in nearly 90 nations.
