I do not have much sympathy for a woman who just murdered her baby.

I do have sympathy.

The article said she was very young and her mother brought her. She may have been a minor, with her mother giving her hell constantly unless she aborted.

VERY OFTEN a late abortion means the girl concealed the pregnancy as long as she could, believing that if she was far enough along, nobody would do an abortion.

When doing shelter work years ago, I saw girls who squeezed themselves into tight jeans or wore big shirts or sweatshirts to keep the pregnancy secret, and then when their mothers (or sometime fathers or boyfriends) found out, these girls were slapped and kicked and threatened to be literally thrown out on the street in the winter!

Those most vulnerable to coercion, end up in the stirrups giving "birth" to poisoned corpses.

The braver or wilder ones run away. Those are the ones we saw. The police brought them to us (at that time our town did not have any kind of emergency shelter except for our little "Hope House" group.)

I'm not saying that's always the case. Abortion is always, as an objective act, murder: and a girl, even a minor, has a moral duty to protect her child.

But sometimes --- you would be amazed at the level of brute coercion. From the Mothers, God help us.
