Top Six Reasons NOT to Get a Chik-Fil-A Franchise.
Franchise City ^ | 2019 | franchise.city

Posted on 11/20/2019 10:17:28 AM PST by BDParrish

There is a lot that Chick-fil-A has done right. Earnings per store or AUV's (average unit volumes) are at the top of the QSR50 at 4.4 million. To put that into perspective the average unit volume of a Subway store is a paltry $422,000...

...3. You own nothing and build no equity. This one is huge. In a typical franchise arrangement after you have spent years working hard and building up a business when it's time to retire or move on you can typically sell that business or pass it on to your family. Successful franchises can be worth millions. In the case of Chick-fil-A however you own nothing and because you have no equity in the business you have nothing to sell. Ownership is always retained by corporate - not you. So are you really an owner? Its interesting that on Chick-fil-A's own website they they don't refer to franchisees as owners but as "operators" - and many states have tried to have Chick-fil-A re-classify operators as employees not franchise owners and therefore entitled to employee benefits.

...5. Low earnings. Now Chick-fil-A is quite secretive regarding their facts and figures so information is difficult to come by, but it appears that the general consensus is that owners receive between 5%-7% of the gross. So let's put that in perspective at 5% if your store does 1 million you would recieve $50,000, 2 million you receive $100,000, at 3 million $150,000 and at 4 million you would receive $200,000. So that would put the average store owner Chick-fil-A earnings at $200,000 per year at 5% and $240,000 per year at 6%. Now a quarter million a year is a pretty good salary, but from a franchise ownership perspective only receiving 6% of the gross is quite low.

#1 - They are fake “real” Christian business who like all others feel they need to cater to the 1% LGBTQXYZ cult in order to maintain profits! Including the Pope!

Last time I checked it is a $10,000 application fee for consideration. No refund if you're rejected.

Consideration fee? lol....That's enough to make small investors run away like they're on fire.

Yes, I know about having to excerpt - wanted to make sure I recommended the reading of full article as this was a good one.

In fact, this Franchise.City site is a good one and I bookmarked it for future reference.

Here's an interesting article on the new Amazon Delivery franchise opportunity.

Yes, its such a horrible model (rolling eyes) that Others are moving toward it... Steak And Shake has slowly been moving all of its corporate stores to this model.

10k investment to make 200k-300k a year for life? Yes, such a bad deal.

You aren’t an investor if you own a Chick-Fil-A... you only get 1.. and you are expected to run it and run it well, or guess what... you will lose it.

They are VERY selective about WHO they give stores to... It isn’t like a typical franchise chain, which is why their service and quality are leaps and bounds higher than any other chain.

Lean chicken breast doesn't help. The fat enhances the flavor. Dark chicken meat might be better.

Wendy's low carb burgers require a lot of mustard and mayo and then they are tasty.

5 Guys and Carls Junior do a pretty good job and they wrap their sandwiches in lettuce. Gunther Toodys is the best.

Rather than just “more mayo”, try the CFA Sauce. I don’t go to CFA very often, but when I do, the Sauce goes on my sandwich.

So the small guy willing to fork over 10k for an investment is not serious? Where do ya get that? I think the idea is it's rip off disguised as a legitimate fee. A win win for the company, not so much for the little guy.

I have a family member who owns 2 Yum Brands restaurants. Very hands on, preps salads and veg, roasts meats, orders food and supplies, does all paperwork, etc. In the restaurants almost daily and on call 24/7. Hard working, successful, and recognized by Yum Foods for it.

This is stupid. They have a massive waiting list and never open more than 100 per year. This article is worthless.

Doesn’t help that they have apparently caved in to the powerful pervert lobby.

The pervert lobby is no more powerful than that one guy that would hide outside the wire at night with a megaphone.

They just sound scary to the psychologically weak and biz school grads.

Cobb Salad is one of their saltiest items.
I love all their food! Their traditional nuggets are not that high in carbs or salt. The baked ones are very healthy.
