I remember polio from the days before the vaccine. A young teen, I had to sit by myself all summer, never see friends, never go anywhere because my mom was that careful. We lived in a VERY upscale suburb of Chicago, our home was three blocks from that of the Kettering’s, family that started General Motors.
Junk food hadn’t been invented, no GMOs. Not a weak immune system within miles.
One of my classmates got polio anyway. Hit his legs and forever after they were useless. We were delighted when Sabin came along.
So what’s different now?
Get those vaccines to everyone! No excuses!!
I got a sugar cube vaccine when I was very young and when it was just recently developed...circa 1960.
I guess that was live vaccine.
The World Health Organization calls this form "wild" polio and there've been roughly 100 cases so far this year.
This is a tiny number compared to the 350,000 cases that occurred globally
before the Global Polio Eradication Initiative was launched in 1988.
But what's troubling now is that there are currently more kids being paralyzed by cases of vaccine-derived polio than by the original "wild" variety.
In places with poor sanitation, wild polio and the virus in the oral vaccine can spread from sewage to drinking water.
But over time the virus from the oral vaccine starts to regain strength (Emphasis Mine)
and if it's allowed to circulate long enough, it reverts back
to the point that it can cause paralysis just like the original virus.

Because vaccinations are bad. Donnie Wahlbergs wife told me so.
And he is a TV star, so it must be true.
I remember taking the sugar cube version.
I thank my Mom often for not being one of those Hippy Dippy Moms that are Anti-Vax.
I’m living PROOF that vaccines work - millions and millions of us are!
The vaccine industry is evil. And stupid. Both
Of all the things we don’t need...
My question is, why do the Democrats think the diseases they help to bring in will miss them?
Just for the second guy to try, the first one has it golden.
guard 1 - "He has polio, open that chamber and search him."
guard 2 - stares at guard 1 -
"NEXT!"
I remember every single kid I went to school with had a scar on his left shoulder, a round pock mark, from the smallpox injection we got with that damn painful gun. I don’t remember ever hearing about anyone NOT getting it.
Girls got it on the outside of the leg. They were like bellybuttons, it was just there and so common to see no one even noticed it anymore.
