Back in he 1960s we would take small sharks called dog fish that got on (bit onto) our lines. We would take them by the tail and brain them against the side of the ol ChrisCraft. Then throw them back in and most of the time they would swim away. They are so primitive I will bet their brain (such that it is) healed back to normal within weeks.

TRUE - Also, some of the BEST tasting creatures that you can take from saltwater are DOGFISH & BONNETHEAD sharks.
(On the TX coast, we “locals” call Bonnetheads, “Tourist Trout”, as the tourists get ANGRY & often CURSE loudly when they catch one on an expensive live bait-shrimp, throw them back & never learn that they are GREAT eating & have NO bones.)

Marinated in Italian dressing for 2-4 hours in a plastic bag, seared on both sides & then “finished to the desired doneness” (I do my Bonnethead steaks MED RARE.) over live coals being MY favorite style.
