I had a black kitten that I found trapped in a wall once.
I fed it milk with a dropper or maybe it was formula for kids.
It grew up, it was an out door cat because it just wouldn’t use a litter box.
It was kind of retarded and it would just melt and drool and go completely limp if I picked it up to pet it.
Nice kitty.

One time it treed itself for a week, it fell down out of the tree when I was talking to it and when I picked it up off the ground it peed all over me, it was fine.

it's an auspicious occasion when a little unit of pure life like this drops in our lap.

I could not agree more. Mine was dropped into the back yard, or he somehow wandered in on his own, and started meowing. The dogs would have killed a squirrel in seconds, but they stood over him, barking and wagging their tails. He was a very cute kitten -- a "little unit of pure life."

He is now a healthy, strong, affectionate, largish cat. He talks to me, and I often understand what he is saying. He understands some English, mostly but not entirely food-related. He head-butts me. He purrs up a storm. He loves being petted. He lets me carry him. He is not exactly obedient -- he is a cat -- but he often will come when I call.

I am very lucky to have found him.

They also sell kitten formula in the cat aisle. Full of nutrients. Straight milk is not good. You want calories in this baby.
Good luck!

Fill it up best you can, and go about your business.
Cats are amazing survivors.

A long time ago my miniature pinscher, Goliath, was barking aggressively at the shed so I went to see what was up. Four kittens in a ball by the corner.
I took him in hoping mama would come and relocate her brood. The next morning they were still there so we adopted them. Kittens Milk Replacement through a dropper and a bottle every few hours for weeks and a bunch of towels by the heat register.
They all grew up and moved out to friends homes, but my dog, a male, would pick them up by their scruff and move them, one by one, from heat register to heat register to keep them near me.
He adopted them really.

Leave it to Darwin. If it’s a strong cat, it will survive. If it’s weak, then it’s next Kitty up.

Ew, that’s grim.

I of course kept to the time-honored, Freeper tradition of not actually reading what I was commenting on...

My daughter and I fostered a two day old abandoned kitten. Fostering is a big commitment for six weeks, until the kitten is ready to eat solid food. The kitten must be bottle fed with kitten formula every four hours. You need to add a small amount of pumpkin purée to the formula because the formula is constipating. If the kitten goes more than 2 days without pooping, you need to take him/her to the vet. Thanks

Every time you feed the kitten, you should also burp them and swab their bottoms and tummies to stimulate peeing and pooping.

You must keep the kitten warm at all times. We kept our little kitten in a pet carrier and covered it with a towel to keep out drafts. Put half of the carrier on a heating pad set on low heat.

Fostering an orphan kitten is a big commitment, and often the kitten doesn’t survive. My daughter traded off the bottle feeding ack and forth because otherwise you get too sleep-deprived getting up for night feedings. During the day we took turns taking the kitten in the carrier to work so we wouldn’t miss feedings.

Fostering the kitten was a two person job, I don’t think I could have done it successfully by myself. If you don’t think you can keep up the feedings and care for 6 weeks, find a cat rescue organization and turn the kitten over to them. Most of these organizations have networks of experienced kitten foster parents.

I am overjoyed to say that our foster kitten is now a big strong 20 pound tomcat who is just as sweet as he can be. He was literally the size of a small rat when we started with him. I still call him TBK, or Tiny Baby Kitty. :0)

You are that cat’s person. Go with it. It’s a special gift, whether you see it yet or not.

I have had one cat decide that about me. My wife brought her home after finding her on the street, and I didn’t want anything to do with the beast. Didn’t matter, the cat chose me. She’d sit on my lap, sleep next to me, just was inseparable.

She died of some sort of cancer 8 years later, and I miss her every day.

Give the kitten a cute name like Barney Blue-eyes. Take an adorable picture of Barney. Send the picture to everyone you know saying you are giving away free love. Someone will want it.

If you saw the mother you normally shouldn’t intervene.

Never mind., I think you meant to saw the mother cat was dead on the side of the road. Call a vet and get kitten formula.

Many people suggest goat milk for very young kittens, supposedly more like cat-mom milk. Body temp with a dropper.

My kitten apparently left her mom too soon, though she was a few weeks old. I bought goat milk and put it on the floor in a tiny dish, she’d keep going back to the same spot and meowing for it.

Good luck with your baby. I am madly in love with my kitty girl.
