We also started a 401KID program to get them to save.
Wed match what they saved and they had to keep it invested.
Worked well until we adopted our (teen) Russian daughter.
Instead of saving part, she gave me 8all her money she earned8 to have it matched.
She thought she landed in wonderland.
That is when we decided to limit the match!
She still talks about it.

BTW, you made the rules, then changed them when it cost you? What did that teach her?
The maker of the rules can adjust them as warranted.
Otherwise, we'd just have a legalistic world.
I hope it taught her that there are limits.
