Has anyone received the 2020 Census mailer yet? I received a note on my door saying I failed to return the survey and a card to call the person for an in-home survey. Is this legit?
I received my Census mailer almost a year ago.
HMMMMM sounds suspicious. Have not seen or heard anything about the census being actively conducted, but maybe it’s below the radar (since the MSM is obviously very busy trying to help us understand that POTUS must be retired and SOON!).
Thanks devane617.
Have never received this. Ever.
If I were you I’d throw that into the trash.
Government agencies will never leave an unsolicited card like that. The enumerators dont work that way and canvassing doesnt begin until January.
The survey is taken on April 1, 2020, so I think you misunderstand. You won’t get your survey in the mail until next year. Then it is a months long process of counting and follow up.
No mailers. However, a lady came by a month ago, doing a pre-census survey verifying my name and how many folks lived here. I told her and she went on her way. Some folks in town call the police and they verified that she and a couple of other Census Bureau canvassers were legit.
This is too early for the 2020 census, see below:
“March 12 20 2020
Mailing 1: Letter with info to take survey online (the majority of people will get this) or Letter + Paper Survey (2025% of people based on demographic characteristics and Internet connectivity of a geographic area will receive this)”

I would say, emphatically “NO”. Too many creepy orgs out there cashing in, in some form or another, in the name of government agencies.
Besides, CENSUS, will hound you, but not haul you off, so until you actually receive the nasty thing you have no legitimate worries about engaging in a conversation with a suspicious mailer, or whatever, certainly not before you actually receive it.
I have had over the course of years, received three ROBO calls saying that the IRS is suing me. All that is missing is creepy music to the background of the hollow ROBO voice.
I never respond.
Put it on somebody elses door
****UPDATE****
This is an “American Community Survey.” I called the Census and this is a survey they do outside the normal census. Still they told me to call tomorrow and verify this is a real census employee .
I have applied to be a census taker. I received an email 2 weeks ago that they will begin the hiring process next year.
I would say that what you received was some sort of scam.
Why would you do that? So some woman comes to the door and says shes from the census? Can you tell her how many people live at your house and your correct name? Do you also answer emails from African princes that want to give you a lot of money?
You’re going to be really unhappy when you see the questions on the survey.
Toss it—even if it was the pre-survey they will contact you again if legit.
Do not call them under any circumstances—make them contact you.
Always carefully check their ID if you get a live person claiming to work for the Census Bureau—and if you have any concerns then do not let them conduct any survey inside your house—talk to them outside.
If you feel at all uncomfortable for any reason, just refuse to answer the questions.
(I used to work the Census Bureau in the old days....)
Never forget....

They can’t stop .gov agencies from taking your information in any future “national emergency”.
Just think—folks like Adam Shiv get to decide stuff like that...
The only reason Fed.gov comes to your home is if you are under Federal Investigation. And if that’s the case, you probably already know why, and you will get prior notices, calls, and agents will have IDs.
Unless they want you really badly, and they will come through your windows in the middle of the night.
Anyone saying they will come to your home is NOT legit.
It is an "American Community Survey'. One paragraph reads;
The Census Bureau chose your address, not you personally, as part of a randomly selected sample. Yor are required by U.S. law to respond to this survey.(sentence highlighted in bright yellow) (Title 13, United States Code, Sections 141,193 and 221)
Don’t worry about it. Your census form was filled out by the same folks who harvest votes for the democrats at election time. If you’re in a blue state, expect to have about 25 congresscritters added from your state. If you’re from a red state, expect to lose all but one.
