My grandmother told me about hanging clothes on the line outside and they would freeze solid. Then bring them in and putting them on the radiator. Guess that it was the clothes dryer of its day.

Those cast iron radiators were wonderful for that. When you go into an office/waiting room, up here. they provide boot & mitten warmers as a courtesy. :)
