I was one of the IBM unwashed. Started there in 1968, Harrison NY (HQ), also applied to Burroughs, not sure about Remington Rand. LOL
BTW, Started coding for the 1401(auto coder,) then 7010 (auto coder), then 360 (assembler), even wired Unit Record devices.
Worked for Burroughs for 38 years.

SDL was the best. Developed by Unisys small systems for system programming. System Development Language.
I started programming in the early ‘60s on an IBM1620 in college. The FORTRAN compiler was a punched card deck of several hundred cards. A fellow student by the last name of Humburg became known as Humbug for his propensity to drop the compiler. Took eight passes trough the card sequencer to rebuild.
