I think I would have walked out right then and there.
My Sunday school teacher has a son that has Down’s syndrome; I asked him how he would respond if some total stranger were to walk up to him and mouth off about his son.
He thought a moment and said, “I would let them say their piece and then very politely yet very firmly inform them just how completely stupid they are.”
That was my first taste of “the borrower is slave to the lender”. Student loans meant that I needed that job. I couldn’t walk out. Her comment did change the way I felt about her and probably contributed to my leaving a year later.
