Sure. The show not only breaks the basic laws of biology, but also the basic laws of physics. Leave zombies in a basement for years with no nutrients, and when you open the door years later they're still ... well, ... not exactly alive ... but far from dead-dead. What was their energy source?

It's like wicca. The whole mythology was invented by George Romero in 1968. Before that, zombies weren't after brains to eat. They were just milling around not dead and not alive.

But after all, it is just a story. It's a way of making a variety of stories possible and interesting. And at least they (finally) realized that gasoline goes bad eventually.

While Romero is responsible for the modern zombie film, he never had anything to do with them eating brains. That has not been in any of his movies.

And while the laws of physics and biology are violated all over the place in The Walking Dead, it's important to remember that everyone who dies becomes a zombie. So as long as there are people, there will always be a fresh supply of newly made zombies.
