What became of the nuns, or is it nun of my business?
My chapel is a 15 minute walk away, located on a university campus, & on Sundays it’s filled with college babes.
What became of the nuns? I suppose they went to a smaller place or a nursing home. It was long ago. However, I do believe there’s a trend and their kind is going extinct. There are more dead churches in this area, than dead malls.
Another part of the problem is upkeep. The church may not want to foot the bills for a huge place housing a half dozen nuns. Maintenance, insurance, utilities, all to be paid by a diminishing congregation.
You can buy an old church in PA for a handful of beans. I’ve seen them go for $30k or so, and just one window is worth that in some markets.
