A broken down Vet, (health problems, surgeries) who was a trojan. A prolific poster of articles keeping the Front Page alive when things were slow, come rain or come shine.
Some condolences remembered him for that, as glue, holding the site together.
He was strictly business, on topic, otherwise nearly silent. All I know of a personal nature is that he recently was still posting on November 3rd, and then not posting, and then this news.
The last Comm with him that I had was actually a couple of years ago was a reply to a Vanity post with dear him begging for prayers for his dear wife, Barbara. They are very close and he hardly knew what to do with himself at home alone, while she was in the hospital.
I know he lives in Denton/Dallas and at one point further back we used to talk about our dogs, having Chi WA WAs. (just kidding). I didn’t spell it correctly and had to look it up. lol. At that time, I believe he hailed from California and is a Texas transplant.
Others, like Vendome were closer. Freepers, according to the acknowledgement post, came together on occasion with him to help him out with something, when things got rough.
I didn’t know about that. Just saying that he struck me as always a gentleman and a scholar.
You’re so good to inquire. Appreciate it. I admired him, but we were not close. He replied to few posts. I think he was a private person, but would occasionally would pop off with some witty, humorous in a brief sentence.
According to *Vendome, Barbara contacted him (maybe by freepmail) and gave pretty much only notice of his passing, with no details. Vendome would love to know more, himself, but does not want to impose on her in any way, at this time.
FR has a marvelous Wall of Memorials, several with pictures of Freeper friends. I hope that can happen with 2D and maybe in time, we can learn what in the world happened to him kind of all of a sudden. I know we all appreciate the privilege to read an Obituary when offered.
Right, I posted to him over the years and I know he and his wife had health issues and struggled financially. I’d like to know about his service and life after that.
A hell of a FReeper. Will miss his posts.
I've been trying to find the Wall of Memorials. WHERE IS IT? It should be in the menu at the top of the page.
