“Make no mistake about it, folks. Terrorists will hit America again.}

Read Forstchen’s Day of Wrath.

Now I’ll quibble with his choices. The M1A while a fine weapon is very expensive, very heavy, and not a good choice for smaller shooters. Parts are also expensive, it’s not very common, and even bulk ammunition is pricey.

I’m astonished they haven’t tried it.

A half-dozen Beslans in one day, spread out through big ciies, suburbs and small towns.

How long would it be before anyone sent their kids to school again?

There’s a reason (or several) the M-14 had such a short career.

Apart from the idea of using it to shoot members of a mob at close range from your front porch (wrong tool), and the praise that it is a “man’s weapon” (lots of actual men who went through MCRD San Diego or Parris Island had trouble with it), the overkill of the .308 round, again from your front porch (he chose the scenario) - why not go with the United States Rifle .30 cal M-1?

I mean, if you are going to LARP, and you don’t want an AR-15 with a bunch of good to go 30 round mags on your front porch Jack Daniels brand side table, why not the best?

What would you suggest for a 150 lb 50ish woman on a modest budget?

For all those same reasons the SKS is also hard to beat in practicality and reliability.

Yep. Looks stylish, though. You can buy a couple of AR 15s and spare parts for the price of an M1A.

Absolutely terrifying, but an excellent, excellent book.
