CORAL SPRINGS, Fla (AP) — A South Florida 911 dispatch supervisor was watching "I Am Mother" on Netflix while a caller unsuccessfully tried to get help after someone shot out her car's windshield, an internal affairs investigation found.
Records show a 34-minute delay in the June 9 call being dispatched to an officer. The victim told the South Florida SunSentinel she called back 16 minutes later and finally drove herself to the Coral Springs police station after being told an officer was on the way.
Investigators later learned the call was logged as a "suspicious incident" rather than a priority. Investigators wanted to know how the error happened and how the supervisor missed it.
As part of an internal affairs investigation, investigators pulled data from supervisor Julie Vidaud's computer and found the most used applications were Netflix, Hulu and Xfinity TV. They learned the Hilary Swank movie was playing for two hours during the time Herrera tried to get help.
... Vidaud... is expected to receive a two-day suspension without pay, police said.
She promised she would no longer have Netflix playing at work, according to the report.

If you are going to do that on the job, use your phone... NOT the company computer. I can’t believe they aren’t blocking Netflix as it is.

Oh ok, we’re good then.
IMO, that’s a firing offense. It’s not like she was a CSR mishandling a call from a customer who wants to return an item. Her inattention could have had deadly consequences. She has shown that she doesn’t care about the safety of callers.
In addition, if I were a taxpayer there, I’d like to see an accounting of how many hours on the job she was watching shows and make her pay the city/county for that time. I know that won’t happen.
She will have to switch to Prime.

She can still stream crackle, apple, amazon prime. Someone will probably tell her how to access proxies to avoid detection.

When you need the police, they are only minutes away.
At most private sector companies, she wouldn’t have had anything playing at work. She would have been fired.
