It is a weird flavoring but I hate the grainy texture of the dough. Raised doughnuts should be moist only, no sandiness about it.
I prefer Dunkin’, but then, we’ve lost about ALL our great German bakeries around here and THAT was the best. Even our local college take-out and office complex restaurant had great honeydips for cheap, compared to Dunkin’ even at the time.
I’m stuck with Dunkin’, and won’t eat Krispy (perhaps that’s the trouble - they think they should be crispy?).
If you want a really good red-blooded American doughnut you need to find a shop run by a French trained Vietnamese family! No joke, they know how to make a doughnut!
