For waht the tickets cost and the cost of concessions, why would anyone even go to a theatre??? After a year or so, you can see the movie on TV...
This is a big part of it. Theaters are finding it increasingly harder to compete with streaming services and 75" 4K home theater systems that can be purchased by most Americans for less than a half month's wages.
This movie should've went straight to Netflix.
Wait a few months and rent it at Redbox...Make your own popcorn...If the movie sucks you’re out a couple bucks...
And if you need a bathroom break, or a cell phone rings during the movie it’s yours, and there’s always “Pause”...
I wonder, obviously it didn't occur to them. Their likely audience (read: middle aged) generally waits until movies appear on TV. Especially if you're paying for HBO.
You know, I went to see Joker at a matinee, thinking it would be cheaper. It was only $1 cheaper than the evening showings.
A 12-oz soda and junior popcorn (the smallest they have), together was close to $10.
