Love quilts .... always wanted to do it, but just never made the leap. A cousin’s wife has gotten into quilting in the last year or two so I quilt vicariously through her pictures.

So the birthday knitting is done and ahead of schedule! Now I just need to make her a oouple of jars of Blackberry Merlot Jelly to go with the arm warmers.
The baby blanket has 3 more rows of border to go - baby due date is Thanksgiving.
Hairpin lace scarf has no due date ... long as it’s done by next fall’s county fair.

Rarely do I make things for myself, but I saw this Mobius Wrap & love the design. I’ve been wanting to make a shawl for myself; however, keeping it ‘on’ is the hard part. This mobius shawl wrap looks like it will stay on easily. I went to AC Moore to get my knitting needles, then saw some yarn on sale - the yarn used in the pattern is discontinued. Anyway, the ‘Grist’ (yards/ounces) of the sale yarn is exactly the same at ‘31’ so my 5 Bulky should work up the same as that in the pattern. I bought 2 skeins & the project is on my list to be done by Thanksgiving - I want to wear it to The Feast!!

This Mobius Shawl Wrap has a look I really like, plus it's super convenient to wear – a shawl you don't have to worry about keeping on. Saturday I got some good yarn on sale for half price: Stitch Studio Earthtone Bulky [5], color “Silver Fox”. It's a fairly soft yarn and feels really great in hand, once it's worked up (“O” hook).

So I finished it last night and tried it on. I had messed with the pattern stitches which (unintentionally) bulked it up a bit, alternating HDC with DC rows. The pattern is all DC and I'm not crazy about the “columnar” (for lack of a better word) look of solid DC. I also started with Foundation Double Crochet (FDC) rather than a simple chain. After it was finished, I decided I wanted something a little more 'drapey' & slightly roomier, so I was going to frog it back & try another stitch combo & add a few stitches to my original starting FDCs. This wrap worked up so fast that frogging it back didn't seem like a big deal.

Then my mom tried the wrap on and fell in love with it. Next thing I knew, she had her $$ out to pay for the yarn, if I'd let her keep it – a “bribe” of the best sort! So that's what happened …. she is already snuggling up with it and planning what colors/outfits will coordinate (very versatile color).

As for me, I'm a happy camper – no frogging AND I get to buy more yarn & try another one! I did come up with a last row border I like a lot (single crochet prior row, last row is sc in back loop & back bump in the stitch of the previous row - makes an attractive, neat, flat border.
